Bhoger Khichuri (Festive Bengali Khichuri)

Cooking Time: 35–40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Lalbaba Gobindo Bhog Rice
  • 1 cup roasted moong dal
  • 1 bay leaf, 2 cardamoms, 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 cup vegetables (potato, peas, cauliflower)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • Salt & pinch of sugar

Method

  • Roast moong dal lightly until aromatic.
  • Heat ghee, add whole spices and ginger paste.
  • Add vegetables, rice, dal, turmeric and water.
  • Cook covered until soft but slightly textured (not mushy).
